APPLICATION FOR SOMETHING

I have been applying for freelance photography jobs with different management companies. I have a list of artists I feel my photography style fits and finding contact details for their management and sending over my portfolio. The email template I have been using is:
I received a response from a management company with an impressive roster, they said they currently don't have anything but have added me to their list of creatives and will contact me in the future when something suitable comes up.
The application process involved me _____.
For this unit, we will be thinking about who we are and where we want to take our career once we finish college. We will be developing our professional persona and presenting ourselves to the creative industries with our CVs, portfolios, networking skills, etc.

CV

As I want to work in the music industry when I leave college, I tailored my CV to only include experience relevant to that industry. I took out all the information about my part-time hospitality work and instead listed all the music experience I have.

Once I was happy with the draft, I had a friend in the industry (who works at a label) read over it and check it was alright. I had listed my experience by relevance, but she said it would be better to change the order to by date, starting with the most recent at the top. I adjusted this and she checked it again and said it was perfect.

BRIEF
I confirm that the attached assessment is all my own work and does not include any work completed by anyone other than myself and sources have been appropriately referenced.
The organisation commissioning the brief is ‘How To… Music’. We’re a page on metconnect.info, and our target audience is those either looking to go into or expand their skills in the music industry.
‘How To… Music’ is a page providing tutorials on things music related to help you get into the industry and market yourself. A tutorial on how to do a photoshoot is already published, and we’re looking to get commissioned for the final 3 articles - making a promotional video, how to run an artist’s social media accounts, and how to edit using Adobe Photoshop & Lightroom. These articles benefit not only those in the industry, but also anyone in any creative industries.
The target audience is those in the music industry at any level, although this is mostly aimed at those new to the industry. However, the articles will still be useful for even those in the top positions as it can help them broaden their skills to different sections if they’d like. The articles also benefit those in creative industries outside of music, as they can use the information and apply it to their industry easily - for example, they can adapt the social media article to one of an influencer or actor as there’s a lot of similarities.
There are similar projects out there - including the METConnect page; Wired by Grace Dickinson also features tutorials, although these surround food and aren’t relevant to music. For my research, I had a look at a few music tutorial websites out there - such as The Balance Careers and SmartistU - although I believe mine stands out from these as I use more visuals. These websites seem to be successful - they rank high on Google SEO and some have comments with people saying how useful the articles have been for developing their careers.
How To… Music doesn’t only have ‘How To…’ articles - we also have a Spotify playlist with new music from smaller artists on the page which is updated often and is a good way of helping get the word out about these artists. There’s also a gallery at the bottom with pictures from the articles to make the site more interactive and encourage people to view other articles.
The finished work will be published on the METConnect website (both on the ‘How To..Music’ page and the home page, and shared on Instagram via posts and interactive stories. The pilot article (‘How To… Do a photoshoot’) reached many people through the promotion on Instagram and I have confidence future articles will too. The aim is to reach a lot of new people looking for guidance in the industry and guide them to METConnect so they can learn and find inspiration.

The articles we’d like to get commissioned are: Making a promotional video, How to run an artist’s social media accounts, and How to edit using Adobe Photoshop & Lightroom. These will all feature step-by-step tutorials with lots of pictures labelled with guidance of what to do, as well as the final product. The posts on the METConnect Instagram page will use hashtag templates in the comments and have multiple pictures in one to get people to stay on the post for longer and therefore boost the engagement, and the stories will have videos and polls, again to boost engagement and reach.
