PROPOSAL

SECTION 1: RATIONALE

From the last project, I believe I have gained some strengths & skills as well as achieved great things that will help me in my Final Major Project (FMP). For my FMP, I did a lot of photography work and relaunched my music website. I was able to build up my Brighton network and can use these connections to help me in the FMP.

I already have video filming/editing skills from past experience (as well as the right equipment) and can use these to produce my live lounge showreel.

My pathway is event management but my speciality is photography/creative media. However, I have a great network and transferable skills that will help me with this project, as well as knowledge about event management from my college course and the programme I am doing with Music Venue Trust & PRS. I also helped run my Year 11 concert a couple of years ago too and can use the skills I gained from this to help me plan the event.

SECTION 2: PROJECT CONCEPT

1. LEAD ROLE

I would like to put on my own live lounge in Studio 21. I am thinking of hosting 3 different artists - Ria Hanley, Candy, Pindrop. Each artist would perform 2 songs and have an interview. All of this will be filmed. There will be an audience for this, but I am unsure about whether I should make the event free or charge for tickets. I think donations would work best.

People I will need for this include:

  • Performers (Ria Hanley, Candy, Pindrop)

  • Sound engineer

  • Lighting designer

  • Interviewer

  • Videographer

  • Event manager

This would be beneficial for both sides as it will show I can successfully run an event and give me experience in doing so and it also helps promote the artists involved and gives them great content they can use for their socials.

2. FACILITATE AN IMPORTANT ROLE

For this, I will film & photograph someone’s event. Ellie has asked me to photograph her event (a secret cinema), and so this will be my job for this part of the project.

Things I will need for this include:

  • Camera

  • Lightroom

  • Photoshop

  • iMovie

This will benefit both of us as it gives me more photography & videography experience and also gives Ellie photos & a showreel she can use for her project.

3. HELP

I will help out at someone’s event by ushering for them. I am not sure who I will do this for yet, however.

OUTSIDE OF COLLEGE

Outside of college, I will be putting on a gig in support of the work Music Venue Trust does. PRS are supporting this project. I went on a training day in London and have a mentor for this to support me along the way. The gig will be in May/June and I am still finding a headliner for it.

For this, I will need:

  • My Brighton contacts

  • My emails

  • My mentor

  • MVT & PRS

  • My research

This would be beneficial for me as I will be able to put on my first gig and raise money for charity whilst doing so. I am building up my network as part of it and I will gain valuable experience and knowledge through running this gig. It also benefits MVT and PRS as it raises awareness for the work they do for grassroots venues and as charities, as well as raise money for this.

SECTION 3: EVALUATION

I will be keeping weekly diaries with notes of everything I am doing to document how the project is developing. I will also complete evaluations every Friday to see what went well and what can be improved on. A calendar will also be created with all my jobs to make sure I am keeping to the timescale and am not falling behind. I will also take screenshots of the email/text conversations I am having with people as part of my documentation.
